A central city hotel with tradition

The City Central, one of the central private hotels in Vienna, has been delighting its guests for many years with its typically Viennese ambience and special charm.

The history of this traditional private hotel in Vienna begins in 1729. Still, already in the early 15th century, the most important inns for merchants and coachmen were located in Taborstraße, which once led to the city gates. The first documented mention of the private hotel in Vienna dates back to 1729 when it bore the melodious name 'Weißes Rössl'. In 1798 the Weißes Rössl appeared for the first time in the Viennese hotel guide 'Wiener Kommerzialschema'. On the occasion of the Imperial Diet in 1848, many famous guests, including Count Kinsky and Prince von Hohenlohe, stayed at the city hotel in Vienna.

Shortly after the turn of the 20th century, the Weisses Rössl was completely rebuilt and only reopened in 1921 as the 'Central Hotel'. The takeover of the private hotel in Vienna by the Schick Group took place in 1990. The first measure taken by the Schick family was the complete renovation of the traditional hotel. Since then, the 4-star city hotel in Vienna has borne the name 'City Central'. In 2008, three flats were added to the private hotel.
